Jessie L. Brown was a United States Navy officer. He was the first African-American to be trained by the Navy as a Naval Aviator and became the first African-American Naval Aviator to see combat.
A recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, Brown was the first African-American naval officer killed in the Korean War.
